It’s easy to forget about the suspension because the parts are designed to last a very looooong time

For example, your shocks and struts can last as long as 96,000 kilometres. We’re going to list the signs of a bad suspension below so you know what to look for in your vehicle

Swing by our shop if you are having any of the following problems

A Corner Sits Low

If one corner of your vehicle sits lower on one wheel than all of the other corners, the suspension spring on the low-seated corner is broken and needs to be replaced. Aside from the corner sitting too low, you will also hear that wheel clunk every time you drive over a bump.

Feeling Every Bump

Speaking of bumps, your shocks and struts are worn out if you can feel every bump on the road. They are also worn out if you feel as if you’re vehicle is not steady when you are driving at faster speeds. As we mentioned above, the shocks and struts can last as long as 96,000 kilometres. If you’ve clocked this mileage and your ride is uncomfortable, it’s time to replace them.

Momentum Motion

It’s also time to replace them if you are picking up on your vehicle’s momentum. In other words, you can feel the body of your vehicle respond to what you are doing while you are driving. For example, the shocks and struts are worn if your vehicle tilts to the side when you turn around a corner.

Oily Shocks and Struts

Another sign that the shocks and struts are worn is if they feel oily to the touch. This is an indication that their seals have broken and the internal fluid is leaking out. It is this fluid that helps the struts and shocks absorb the uneven pavement over which you drive.

Pulling to the Side

Your vehicle may also pull to the side if you have a problem with the wheel alignment. Generally, the wheels only need to be aligned every couple of years.
Take note!

If you have hit a curb or driven through a pothole too fast recently, you may have knocked the wheels out of alignment.

Steering Difficulties

Finally, steering difficulties point to a problem with the suspension. It could be that you have a cracked axle or an issue with the steering system. Either way, the problem needs to be fixed as soon as possible so you can restore control of your vehicle.
